In order to help this forum be a quality source of information there are some house rules that we ask all posters to follow.

Anyone who posts must be a registered member.  (See the How To Register Thread if you need help on that process.)

All members are identified by name, and names will be visible with all posts.  Athletes, 18 or under will be identified by first name and last initial.

The user agreement spells out many things that are not allowed in posts.
Quote
You agree, through your use of this forum, that you will not post any material which is false, defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, adult material, or otherwise in violation of any International or United States Federal law. You also agree not to post any copyrighted material unless you own the copyright or you have written consent from the owner of the copyrighted material. Spam, flooding, advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are also forbidden on this forum.

We expect all posters to communicate in a respectful manner.  We value a wide variety of opinions.  We expect people to have disagreements but we expect those exchanges to happen in a civil manner.  Please avoid language that "attacks."  Personal attacks will not be allowed.  If the administrators feel a post contains a personal attack it will be deleted or modified. The moderating will be tighter now.  We want to facilitate the free exchange of ideas in a non-threatening environment.

We don't allow discussion of individual athletes on the board.  Discussions like "Who the best shortstop..." are not allowed.  Links to news articles published which highlight the achievements of teams or athletes are OK.  Discussions of rules or situations that are easily connected to individual athletes are also off limits.  If you are in doubt, don't post it.  If you truly have a rules concern that you need advice on but that has the potential to cause embarrassment to an athlete, please use the Personal Message function and ask one of our umpire members your question in a non-public manner.

If you are in doubt about the appropriateness of any post, feel free to send it via Personal Message to Vince or Vickie before posting.  We want to help facilitate all good discussion.  All members are able to modify their own posts if they realize, after they post, that something doesn't "sound" as appropriate as they first thought.  (Or if they find typos or something they need to correct.)  If a post "treads the line," an on-line warning will be issued.  If one crosses the line it may be edited or deleted.  The poster will be notified of the action.  If a member continues to cross the line, or if in the opinion of the administrators, there was intent to inflame the poster will be banned.  The ban may be just for a day or two as a cooling off period, or for a longer duration if the infractions warrant that response.  In the most serious cases, after discussion and input from a panel of advisers, a member could be permanently banned from posting on Fastsport Forum.

Recently we have been receiving emails that Vince posts for someone else.  Part of the rules of this board are that you post as yourself.  So how come some get to send stuff to Vince to post without any name.   If something gets sent to Vince to post that is fine but the person's name should be attached.  Seems to be a slight double standard of the rules.

Jim,

We have allowed people to send information to the moderators and administrators to be posted anonymously.  The main reason for this is that some people have important things to say, but fear repercussions to themselves or their children for their comments.

It is then up to the moderators and administrators to decide if the information is important to a discussion.  Is the information more than just a rant.  Does provided 3rd party information have reasonable legitimacy.  If it follows those guidelines, it's added.

While I may make some of those initial decisions, I also will discuss with Vickie if she feels it's necessary.  There is also an "MVP" group on the FastSports Forum that can be very vocal about things that they feel are "out of line" or changes that need to be made.  That MVP group provides a lot of direction for the site.
